If we exclusively focus on the cross, we reduce Christianity to only the forgiveness of sins, a flattening of Jesus. True, the cross bears inimitable consequences and implications that are far-reaching and deeply worthy of reverence and understanding. However, if we only see the cross, our vision and commision will be narrow and dogmatic, forceful and potentially loveless. Moreover, our sins will be at the forefront rather than the Mercy, Love, and Action of God. Humanity becomes the center, not the absurdity of God’s jealous desires for our communion.
May we take a step back today and tomorrow to eat and drink Christ’s body as it is resurrected into a fullness that we are invited to participate in.
